Gamesir G4s review!

Gamesir G4s first look :

The packaging is perfectly done with the controller itself, instruction manual and a USB cable which is used for charging & making a wired connection.

The controller looks damn good in my opinion. It looks good as well as feels good to hold it in hand. The handle is a textured rubberized finish which provides comfortable grip when held in hand. The controller has a black and silver accent which makes it look like a high-end-look and it feels like one too.

The multi-color lights are helpful when you are in a dark environment. The controller has a 2.4GHz connector which you can insert in any USB slot to use the Gamesir G4s wireless to PC or Android stick or whatsoever.

Connection :

Gamesir G4s connection to android –

The connection is simple. Press the home button i.e. the button in the center with the Gamesir symbol which is between the directional pad and the joystick. Once you press it, the button will begin to flash by letting you know that it is ready to pair. Turn on the bluetooth on your device and look for “Gamesir” in the nearby devices. You’re ready to use! That’s it!

Gamesir G4s connection to PC –

First off, you must take out the 2.4GHz dongle that is present inside the controller right below the Gamesir home button. At first it might appear hidden, but it is present right in the front. Just pull it out and connect it to the desired device, PC or Laptop or TV box or Smart TV. You’re ready to use.

Buttons :

The button layout is very similar to that of a xBox controller. The buttons feel tactile & solid and also has illuminated buttons which might helpful when you play in dark environments. There are 4 LED’s which indicate the battery life of the controller.

You can find all the standard set of buttons – X Y A B , directional pad, L1 L2 L3 R1 R2 R3. The L2 and R2 has also got the springy feel which is the way most people want them to be like.  Every button is nicely spaced and I had no trouble using it. They are well spaced and there is no crampy feel. And you can also find the clear and turbo button that is used for android connection and other purpose which we can look upon later on in this article.

Battery life and wireless range :

Battery life – The Gamesir G4s has a 800 mAh battery which lasts forever according to me, JK. I personally used the controller for 1-2 hour gaming sessions for 3 or 4 days i guess. Which means a single charge can give you around lots of wireless gaming time. Roughly talking, it gives 10-12 hours in a single charge. And the charging time is very less. It takes couple of hours or so to charge. The controller can be used while charging which means you don’t have to care about anything.

Wireless range – The wireless range which is mentioned in the controller manual is roughly around 23 feet which is way to far off the screen. Talking with reality, no one would actually stay 20 feet away from screen unless they have a huge room & a huge TV. But the wireless range i tried was 12 feet and it did work perfectly even at that range.

How it feels using it :

Android –  The main problem with Android is the controller support for most of the games. When you run games like Asphalt 8 , it’s perfect without any problem. But when you play games like Dead trigger 2, it does nothing. When you use their own app, the Happy chick emulator  it does have a huge list of Controller supported games for Android.

PC – When the 2.4GHz dongle is connected and the Gamesir home button is pressed on the controller, the connection is instantaneous. It connects right away. I’ve tried several games like Farcry 4, GTA 5, Rocket League, Fifa 15 and more. Its perfect and found it flawless. The vibration is on point. Basically it is perfect.

Mouse simulation mode –  The controller also supports mouse mode. Which means you can use the controller as a mouse. And this mode can be enabled & used both on PC and on your Smartphone. This mode can be enabled by pressing Home button + X.

Additional features :

Turbo function – The turbo function on the Gamesir G4s is a feature where you can create multiple key presses by a single click. This function works on any keys except the direction pad, joysticks, select & start buttons. This feature can come handy when you are tired of clicking multiple times in a short span of time.

Clear function – The clear function is used to clear the turbo feature that is explained above.

Adjust brightness – The light illumination present in the Gamesir G4s can be adjusted by pressing L2+R2+R3 followed by Direction pad UP to increase the brightness and Direction pad DOWN to decrease the brightness.

Adjust vibration intensity – The vibration intensity can be adjusted by pressing direction pad UP to increase and direction pad DOWN to reduce the intensity.
